MRes in Clinical Research (Diabetes and Obesity)
What attracted you to that course?
The research aspect of it which included a 9 month hands on research project in a lab.
What specific aspects of the teaching or course format did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed that there was a mix of lectures and project work as it meant that you were always doing the same thing and every week was different. My lecturers and course staff were also always willing to help and support you throughout the year which made it really welcoming and reassuring.
How do you think the course will impact your future career?
The course impacts my future career as it allowed my to develop some key lab skills whilst also being able to work independently on parts of my project in which I wanted to progress further or an area I was interested in.
Why did you choose Imperial College London?
I chose Imperial College London as I had heard that it was an outstanding university and it really interested me. I also really liked the idea of living in London. The Hammersmith and South Kensington Campuses are in great parts of London which were great for exploring the city.
What did you most appreciate about your time at Imperial?
I most appreciated the support from the course staff as they always helped with any queries I had and were quick at responding.
What are you doing now? And how has the course helped with your career?
I am now working as a Research Assistant in a biotech company in Cambridge in which I was became fascinated with after doing an internship with them before the MRes. I am now able to use my skills and experience from Imperial in my new role, as well as developing them to use throughout the rest of my career.
