- Degree in a related subject
- Master's preferable, but not essential
Programme structure
- Research plan at 2 months
- Early stage assessment at 9 months (or 18 months if part-time)
- Late stage assessment at 24 months (or 36 months if part-time)
There are four routes to applying for a PhD or MD (Res) within the Department
The first step is to identify and contact a supervisor, and define a research project. Please read through the Research Section of the Department's website in order to identify and contact a supervisor. Applications should be submitted via the online portal. Choose from the four options below for further application information specific to each programme.
There are five routes to obtaining a PhD or MD (Res) within the Department
- 1. Full time students (Students funded through Research Council, Industry or Charity studentships, or those who are self-funding)
- 2. Part-time students
- 3. Members of Imperial College staff (not including those with honorary contracts)
- 4. Members of NHS staff
