Sarah Njenga

I am a Project Manager for the Global Health and Development Group (GHD) within the School of Public Health. Our team works with a wide range of international partners to apply health economics evidence, and make effective policy decisions in the context of scarce health resources, particularly in LMIC settings.

Every single key worker who has been working tirelessly to help protect us on the frontlines during this pandemic, including my amazing mother and husband, inspire me.

I am proud of being awarded the Young Researchers Scholarship for the 2019 Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) in Kigali, Rwanda. This award enabled me to attend and present my research on Community Based Health Insurance schemes, and it was a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the amazing health initiatives taking place in the country, not to mention meeting trailblazers in the global health space from across the continent, all making strides towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

My most surprising favourite lockdown activity has been baking! Usually I’m not great at it, but having more time to develop my culinary expertise in the kitchen has finally paid off. My favourite creation so far has been baked white chocolate cheesecake – and yes, it tastes just as good as it sounds!
