The primary function of the Pathology Museum is to enable medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, the Museum hosts conferences and short postgraduate courses in pathology.

On display, there are approximately 1,600 pathological specimens dating from 1888. Also housed are a number of important historic Obstetric and Gynaecological specimens donated by Dr Cuthbert Lockyer – one of them being the first hysterectomy performed in England by Professor Wertheim in July 1905.

The Museum’s facilities include individual bays for self-study, small group teaching, and a seminar room for larger workshops.
