Mr Keith Baily - PPI Representative
Keith Bailey is 71 years old and retired in 2009 after a 39 year career in the Metropolitan Police Service. In 2002 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and in the same year underwent radical robotic prostatectomy at Guys Hospital.
After his recovery, he wanted to give time to helping in the battle against prostate cancer and joined Prostate Cancer UK’s Grants Advisory Panel as a lay advisor, assessing funding applications and providing recommendations to the Grants Advisory Board to inform their decisions from a patient’s perspective.
This process was changed in 2009 to one which sought to provide patient centred advice and guidance to prostate cancer research projects earlier in the process in a more practical way and Keith has been involved in several projects in 2019, working with project teams, providing advice and guidance on the preparation of research funding applications and also in the preparation of literature and website structure and content.
