Carolyn qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in Dublin before moving to the UK to specialise in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  Carolyn has been involved in research since 2005, firstly in the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre at University of Nottingham, then at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust where she is currently Clinical Academic Lead for Healthcare Science and is co-clinical lead for research and innovation for the Family Health Division. She is former vice chair of the Society of Radiographer’s Magnetic Resonance Advisory Group (MRAG).

Awarded the inaugural College of Radiographers Doctoral fellowship in 2015 she completed her PhD on Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Coeliac Disease at the University of Nottingham where she is now an Honorary Associate Professor. Her primary research interests are in Gastro Intestinal, fetal and paediatric MRI. Carolyn is passionate about encouraging radiographers to engage in research and mentors a number of radiographers at different stages of their research career.
