Andrea Adradjioti - MRes Clinical Research (Diabetes and Obesity)
The MRes in Clinical Research attracted me due to its comprehensive insight into Clinical Research and the flexibility of the programme to tailor my studies to my specific interests, such as diabetes and obesity.
My specific focus was on studying the effects of GLP-1 analogue therapy on enhancing immune function and lowering inflammation among patients with obesity. The project examined changes in inflammatory markers, immune cell populations, and metabolic parameters in response to commencing GLP-1 analogue treatment.
The program provided valuable training in data analysis, effective communication, laboratory techniques, and clinical research methodologies, improving my abilities to perform rigorous research in my chosen area.
Since completing the Clinical Research MRes, I have transitioned into a role as a Paediatric Dietitian within the NHS. The knowledge and skills I earned during the program have enhanced my abilities in evidence-based practice, data interpretation, and critical thinking. I have been able to contribute more effectively to patient care by incorporating research findings into clinical decision-making.
I highly recommend the MRes in Clinical Research as it offers a strong foundation in research methodology and practical skills valuable across different career paths. Whether you are pursuing a career in research, healthcare, or academia, the program provides the knowledge and skills needed to critically analyse evidence, perform rigorous research, and communicate findings effectively. It serves as a great starting point for personal and professional growth.
With the knowledge and skills acquired from the program, I anticipate advancing my career as a Clinical Paediatric Dietitian by incorporating evidence-based research into patient care practices and contributing to innovative solutions in the field.
