Javiera Pérez
My name is Javiera Pérez and I come from Santiago, Chile. I moved to London about a year ago after finishing my studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. I studied biotechnology engineering as I really enjoy finding alternative and more sustainable processes, and I think biotechnology has a lot to offer in that field. My research thesis was about recovering discarded polyphenols from the brewery process via adsorption chromatography, particularly, how the adsorbent interacts with the different polyphenols from the waste stream. I chose to do an MRes at IMSE because I am interested in how the programme focuses on how science and engineering can collaborate with industry to solve relevant topics that the world faces today.
I also enjoy cooking and trying different cuisines from all over the world; as well as travelling and experiencing new countries and cultures.
