Our mission
The Faculty of Natural Sciences is committed to addressing the critical challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution. Through innovative research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and forward-thinking education, we strive to develop solutions that promote environmental resilience and sustainability. Our goal is to equip the next generation of scientists with the knowledge and skills to understand, innovate, and lead in the face of global environmental challenges. We are dedicated to advancing scientific discovery, fostering a sustainable future, and setting an example through sustainable practices across our research, teaching, and campus activities.

Turning 'Sustainability' from an all-encompassing conceptual framework into one that drives progressive change in an organisation requires reflective and systematic approaches to be adopted alongside strong leadership. We are committed to establishing the systems, tools, communities-of-practice and actions needed to place sustainability at its core. Jem Woods FoNS Sustainability Committee Chair
