The Department of Mathematics is funding two bursaries each worth £10,000 which will directly contribute towards the tuition fees of the successful recipients. If the successful recipient is “Islands/Overseas” fee paying status (i.e. not Home/EU) then they must pay the remaining tuition fee balance to study here.

Who is eligible?

All applicants to the MSc in Statistics are eligible to apply.

Who will they be awarded to?

They will be awarded to exceptional candidates who have a proven record of academic excellence. They will be reserved for candidates who show a desire and ability to continue into a postgraduate research degree after completing their MSc. (Please note: being awarded this scholarship does NOT guarantee you an offer to do a Ph.D. at Imperial College after your MSc.)

 How do I apply?

There is no separate application process.

  • When applying for the MSc in Statistics, say “Yes” to the question “Do you wish to be considered for any College related scholarships appropriate to your circumstances and agree for us to pass you references to relevant committees deciding awards?” in the Addition Questions section.
  • At the end of  your Personal Statement, you must include a “Case for being awarded scholarship” statement (in the same document as your Personal Statement), where in no more than 500 words you will state why you should receive this scholarship.

It might be the case that you are asked for an interview (in person or via Skype) specifically for the scholarship award.

When is the deadline?

Your application to the MSc in Statistics, together with the “Case for being awarded scholarship” statement, must be received by 31 January 2020. You will know by the end of May 2020 if you are being considered for the scholarship. If you do not hear from us specifically about the scholarship by this date then you have not been successful.
