Most useful module: The Laboratory and Computing modules on offer each year are the ones I found most useful. It’s the first chance I got to see the theory I’d learnt during lectures in action. In third labs, my partner and I put together an optical set-up to probe the hyperfine structure of the element Rubidium. Putting the set up together was quite difficult because the laser needed to be guided quite precisely, but once it was running it was really satisfying to get good data. Coincidentally, we are actually building on the same physics principles probed in this lab for our master’s project, so turned out to be particularly useful.

Who's your most inspirational Black physicist? Everyone in The Blackett Lab Family! They continually inspire and encourage me. They’re building a community of physicists and inspiring a new generation of new ones.
