Most useful module looking back: Foundations of Quantum Theory, by Professor Fay Dowker. This course was unbendingly logical, wildly abstract and deeply profound. It taught me the importance of structure and setting up founding principles – skills that serve me well to this day.

Tell us about an inspirational Black scientist you admire and why: Katherine Johnson. Her story as shown in the film Hidden Figures was deeply inspirational. It reminded me of the importance of representation: one of our key motivations in forming The Blackett Lab Family – a collective of UK based Black physicists.
