RSC honours team behind diabetic breakthrough

Professor Tony Cass and former Oxford colleagues awarded a National Chemical Landmark blue plaque

The team, including Professor Tony Cass now in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial along with colleagues Allen Hill and Graham David from Oxford University, that created a new type of sensor allowing diabetics to easily and accurately monitor their blood sugar have been awarded a National Chemical Landmark blue plaque which is being unveiled today16 July 2012.

In the 1980s, the trio developed a new technique that enabled a range of proteins to be investigated electrochemically, paving the way for a new type of monitoring device.
