Prof. Yang presented advances in sports-oriented pervasive sensing at “London 2012: Delivering the Digital Experience” session at the ICT Summit.

Professor Guang-Zhong Yang, director of the Hamlyn Centre and ESPRIT project leader, presented the technological and research advances that enhance sports-oriented pervasive sensing at the “London 2012: Delivering the Digital Experience” session at the ICT Summit 2012.

 The ICT Summit highlighted the emerging technologies that deliver high-quality experience in sports. Driven by the centric panel-led session “London 2012: Delivering the Digital Experience”, this whole-day event featured a series of parallel seminars and technological showcases. Dr Joshua Ellul, Research Fellow at the Hamlyn Centre, led a series of demonstrations on the advances of the pervasive sensing research that is being carried out by the Pervasive Sensing team.

 Other topics covered during this summit included:

  • Broadband technologies, the Cloud and Digital Innovation;
  • Smart Infrastructure, Video / Image Recognition & Augmented Reality;
  • Next Generation Mobility.

The ICT Summit was viewed as a “not-to-be-missed” event. It was a great occasion for worldwide technology leaders to experience UK-led innovation and engage with the UK industry and research leaders. The delegates, speakers and panel-leaders included senior representatives from major companies and organisations such as ARM, BBC, BT, Cisco, CSR, Facebook, Huawei Europe, IBM, Imperial College, LOCOG, Logica, Qualcomm Europe, Samsung Electroincs UK, Sophos and TeleTelefonicaO2 UK.
