EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY: Spin Your Thesis! programme 2013

by Robin Stone

Team competition to design an experiment with the winners testing it out at the ESTEC in the Netherlands.

The European Space Agency is proud to announce the fourth edition of the 'Spin Your Thesis!' programme. Through this programme, several teams of university students will be given the opportunity to carry out experiments in hypergravity using the Large Diameter Centrifuge facility at ESTEC in the Netherlands.

'Spin Your Thesis!' calls for students to design and develop a scientific or technological experiment that requires hypergravity (between 1 and 20 times Earth's gravity) for a few hours or days, as part of their syllabi.

The submission deadline for experiment proposals is 10 December 2012.

Up to four teams will be selected to perform their experiments during ESA's 'Spin Your Thesis!' 2013 campaign, which will take place in September-October 2013.

The details of this programme, including instructions on how to apply, can be found on the ESA Education Office website at www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Education.
