This October is an exciting time at the Hamlyn Centre. With the start of a new term, the second Medical Robotics MRes is underway.
This October is an exciting time at the Hamlyn Centre. With the start of a new term, the second MRes course in Medical Robotics and Image Guided Intervention is underway. The Hamlyn Centre is pleased to welcome a new intake to this course that proved such a success in its first year. Our previous intake has just completed their studies with some excellent research projects covering multiple topics within the fields of Robotics and Image Guided Intervention. Representative examples include "Accurate dense 3D reconstruction in minimally invasive surgery” and “Designing a framework for planning and assessment of knee replacement surgery”.
The Hamlyn Centre had a very busy Summer with multiple events taking place during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Hamlyn Centre, as part of the Institute of Global Health Innovation helped organise the Global Health Policy Summit at the Guild Hall in London. Highlights of the event included David Cameroon giving a talk to a distinguished audience of Scientists, Health Policy Makers, Health Ministers and Royalty.
The Science Museum is currently hosting a Hamlyn Centre Exhibition on Sensing for Elite Sports. The Exhibition at the Antenna Topic Zone informs visitors about the use of cutting edge technology to push the boundaries of what is achievable in sport. The Exhibition has attracted a wide audience and helped to promote the sports research achievements of the Hamlyn Centre.
Professor Guang-Zhong Yang, director of the Hamlyn Centre and ESPRIT project leader, presented the technological and research advances that enhance sports-oriented pervasive sensing at the “London 2012: Delivering the Digital Experience” session at the ICT Summit 2012.
The Hamlyn Centre and the ESPRIT Consortium are proud to announce the 2012 ESPRIT conference. Following the success of the previous two events, this year the ESPRIT Conference will be held on the 19th October 2012 at the Natural History Museum.
With a continuing range of high profile events, the Hamlyn Centre is looking to a successful new term with an aim to break new ground in the fields of imaging, sensing and robotics.
