The Freshers’ Ball will be bringing the curtain down on a packed Welcome Week for Imperial’s 5,000 new students.
The ball, which features performances including Beat Maxx and Kiss FM’s Wide Boys, is the finale to a week of activities from Freshers’ Fair to departmental welcomes, student mingling events organised by Imperial College Union, sports trials and even a mass paper-scissors-stone competition arranged by Sport Imperial.
One of the attendees at Tuesday’s Freshers’ Fair, new Medical student Rijul Bohra, said:
“I’ve have hardly been in my new room at all since I arrived – it feels like I’ve been here much longer than two days. It has been crazily busy with all the fun activities planned by the Union. I’ve signed up for loads of clubs and societies. I’m not sure I’ll have time to actually do everything once my classes start but I’ll definitely be sticking with the music and sports clubs.”
An army of over 50 staff and student volunteers has been helping the arrivals settle in by giving directions, carrying luggage and stewarding at the larger events.
