Information event for Masters students to find out about funded PhD opportunities
Imperial-NUS October symposium
Monday 22 & Tuesday 23 October 2012 at 170 Queen's Gate, South Kensington
Are you an academic interested in research collaboration with Singapore? Would you like to supervise a Joint PhD student? If so, come along to find out more about the Joint Imperial-NUS PhD programme, funding opportunities, and meeting potential collaborators at NUS.
Are you a Masters student interested in a Joint Imperial-National University of Singapore PhD? Current Joint PhD students will present their research at a poster fair on the Monday afternoon and you will be able to speak to them about their experience of the programme. There will also be an information desk about our Joint PhD scholarships.
Theme
The broad theme of the symposium is tools and technology development.
This includes imaging (in vivo and technology innovation), omics (glycomics, novel proteomic tools), industrial biotechnology (bioprocessing, green chemistry, biofuels), materials and nanotechnology, structural biology, systems biology, bioinformatics and mathematical modelling (and could include synthetic biology).
Aims
We hope that the symposium will:
• Foster Imperial-NUS research collaborations that could host a joint PhD student through identifying research areas where the institutions could complement each other
• Highlight Imperial’s facilities in the relevant areas
• Publicise the Imperial-NUS Joint PhD programme
• Foster industry interest in the Joint PhD, the research taking place through it, and the employability of its alumni
Schedule
Download the latest version of the programme which is subject to change.
