BUCS Indoor Rowing competition at the Boathouse on the Putney Embankment

A change of scenery for this BUCS Wednesday as we travelled to The Boathouse on the Putney Embankment to watch BUCS Indoor Rowing competition.  The event saw a strong cohort of Imperial Rowers going hell for leather over 2K for the Seniors and 1K for the Novices.  Some great results all round with a lot of Imperial Rowers shaving time off their previous erg a month before.  Particular standout performances came from Ben Spencer-Jones (Openweight) with a time of 6:04.8 closely followed by Matt Whaley, Henry Goodier and Ally Hudson.  In the Lightweight category Wilf Kimberly took the top spot with a time of 6:23.6.  Imperial Ladies had a great turnout with 23 girls taking part, with Myriam Goudet and Olympian Mel Wilson fighting it out for the top spot on the day, Myriam just took it in a time of 6:57.3.

BUCS indoor rowingA great day all round for IC Boat Club with a lot of support from fellow IC Boat members, a special mention for Harriet Cross whose voice has probably gone today after spending the afternoon motivating her team mates.  Bring on some more BUCS Rowing points!

Elsewhere, some standout performances in the Conference Cup for IC Basketball Men’s 1st who beat West London 1st 100-62, IC Rugby Men’s 2nd beat Brunel 26-19, Medicals Netball 1st beat Sussex 1st 47-23 and in the Trophy Lacrosse Women’s 1st triumphed over Royal Holloway 11-1.

Another great day all round, only 2 weeks left of fixtures this term fingers crossed the rain and snow holds off!
