Spring into action with Healthy Living Week

by Lucy Handford

Staff and students have been taking part in Imperial's Healthy Living Week, which began on Monday.

Did you over indulge during the festive season?  Not yet acted on your New Year resolution to get fit?  Is your workout gear gathering dust?

Staff and students who answered yes to any of the questions above have been making amends in Imperial’s Healthy Living Week, which began on Monday.

Organised annually by Commercial Services and Imperial College Union student societies, the week aims to raise awareness of the ways in which staff and students can keep healthy and well.

Body MOTs – a free health test which looks at weight and blood pressure and a challenge to cycle 1km on an exercise bike as quickly as possible, were some of the activities on offer on Monday. One of the highlights on Tuesday was a talk from Martin MacDonald, a leading nutrition consultant and founder of Mac - Nutrition. Martin gave staff and students the latest tips on healthy eating and explained some common misconceptions surrounding food and diet.
