RAG Week gets off to a flying start
RAG Week at Imperial looks set for a flying start on Monday when students and staff will bravely bungee jump from the Queen's Lawn.
They will be setting the bar high for the annual charity fundraising activities. Whilst places for the jump have sold out, staff and students are invited to come along from 10.30am and show their support for the College’s brave bungee jumpers.
During February university RAG Weeks across the UK take place to raise funds for a range of charitable causes. The week also aims to raise awareness of Raising and Giving (RAG) and encourage students and staff to get involved.
"We’re thrilled at the response we’ve had so far for RAG Week, especially the bungee jump"

RAG Chair
Other less hair raising activities taking place at the College include a bake sale and a range of musical acts on Monday appearing on the Queen’s Lawn. Later on in the week a masquerade ball, a cinema night and ‘cartoon collect’ – where teams dressed as their favourite cartoon character go around London in a challenge to collect donations, will take place. A stall selling RAG Week raffle tickets will also be based outside the Central Library all week.
David Goldsmith, RAG Chair said: “We’re thrilled at the response we’ve had so far for RAG Week, especially the bungee jump, with all 125 slots snapped up within a couple of days of them going on sale. The bungee jumping might be sold out but there’s plenty of other ways that students and staff can show their support when RAG Week launches on Monday.”
Money raised from Imperial’s RAG Week will go to international development charity, Concern Universal, Breast Cancer Campaign and Richard House, a children’s hospice in Newham.
The RAG Committee has already raised over £30,000 since term began, supporting Movember, Children in Need and The Royal British Legion, through activities including the fresher’s ball, the College’s biggest ever bake sale and a 24 Hour Row-a-thon on the Queen's Lawn. The amount raised so far doubles last year's total for the entire academic year.
