Chance to fund a PGCE or Schools Direct chemistry course with £20,000 support package

RSC Teacher Training Scholarships reward individuals who are passionate about chemistry and have the potential to become exceptional chemistry teachers.
 
There are 130 scholarships available for the training year 2013/2014, each worth £20,000 (tax free). Run in partnership with the Department for Education, the scholarship includes a support package from the RSC:

• RSC membership for 2 years;
• access to national and regional RSC support networks through local meetings, online communities, RSC mentors, annual conferences etc;
• a selection of RSC materials including resources, lab coats and other consumables.

Who is eligible?
 
Applications for RSC Teacher Training Scholarships are open to teacher trainees who:

• have a chemistry (or related) degree or have completed a subject knowledge enhancement course;
• have either a proven or expected 1st or 2:1 degree, a master's degree, or a PhD;
• have by September 2013 secured a training place on an eligible PGCE or Schools Direct chemistry course in England for the 2013/2014 academic year;
• qualify as a home student, are eligible to draw a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company, and who meet the bursary eligibility criteria set out in the Teaching Agency bursary guidance;
• have an excellent ability to explain chemistry ideas at school level;
• will train as a teacher in England.
