On 15 March, Comic Relief featured neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) as part of this year’s Red Nose Day. Steve Jones, host of “Let’s Dance” traveled to Malawi to learn about NTDs first hand.

During the show, he presented two short videos from his journey that showcased the horrific impacts of NTDs and introduced this issue of poverty and NTDs to millions of viewers in the UK.

NTD’s are the main focus of the  Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) (Professor Alan Fenwick, Professor Jo Webster, Dr Wendy Harrison), the Partnership for Child Development (PCD) (Dr Lesley Drake) and London Centre for NTD’s (Professor Sir Roy Anderson) which are based in the Deptartment of Infectious Disease Epidemiology.
