Focus on - LAW WEEK 14-16 May 2013

Are you interested in learning about careers within the legal profession? If you are, then these events are for you!

The Career Advisory Service is running a series of employer talks and skills sessions as part of the Focus On - Law Week, which will take place between Tuesday 14 and Thursday 16 May.

An Overview of the Legal Profession: Careers and Training Routes – Lunchtime Careers Talk Tuesday 14 May, 13:00 – 14:00

A panel of speakers from Bird & Bird and chambers will provide an overview of the legal employment market, focusing mainly on the differences between the roles of a solicitor and a barrister.  The panel will also cover the different training and qualification routes for non-law students, as well as the attributes legal employers traditionally look for in applicants. Meet the Recruiter Skype drop-in session - 15 minute pre-bookable and individual appointments  Tuesday 14 May, 15:00 – 17:00

Representatives from Carpmaels & Ransford, a firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, will be on hand to answer questions and advise on developing a career as patent or trade mark attorney, the application and recruitment process and training and qualifications. 15 minute pre-bookable and individual appointments are available and students will Skype from the Careers Advisory Service. Book a place via JobsLive

The Roles of an IP Lawyer and Patent Attorney - Lunchtime Careers Talk Wednesday 15 May, 13:00 – 13:50

Legal representatives from Hogan Lovells and Olswang LLP will provide a detailed insight into the roles of and differences between an IP Lawyer and Patent Attorney.  They will also provide an overview of the different recruitment and training routes for both careers, followed by a Q&A session. Book a place via JobsLive
