The Careers Advisory Service has devised a series of events and workshops aimed at PhD students which take place May-July.
PhD Workshops July 8 - 11
A framework for career success: self, explore, decide and plan
Monday 8 July, 14:00 to 16:30
A practical 2 hour workshop which will equip you with a framework for career planning. We will be reviewing 4 stages of career planning and discussing strategies and resources to assist as you plan for a successful and rewarding career.
Creating opportunity and getting on: Effective CV’s and applications
Tuesday 9 July, 14:00 to 16:30
We will be advising on how to produce effective CVs, Cover Letters and application forms, and how to tailor them for opportunities within academia, industry and commerce.
An Opportunity to Shine: the assessment centre
Wednesday 10 July, 13:30-15:30
This workshop will offer an insight into the purpose of an Assessment Centre and what might be involved at the event. It will provide an opportunity to learn more about appropriate behaviours and skills that may be required to succeed. It will look at: Group Activities & other Exercises including getting some hands-on experience with feedback.
The effective candidate: succeeding at interview
Thursday 11 July, 14:00 to 16:30
Whatever stage you’re at on your PhD, it’s helpful to consider how you might best prepare yourself for the interview and selection process, whether you’re aiming for industry or academia. This workshop will enable participants to prepare more effectively for interviews and undertake some interview practice as well.

Please come to the Careers Service (level 5 Sherfield Building) to register by paying a £10 deposit (refundable on attendance).
If you are not based at the South Kensington Campus please call 020 7594 8024 or email: careers@imperial.ac.uk for alternative arrangements.
Students can cancel their place and have their deposit refunded up to 24 hours before a workshop is due to take place. If it is less than 24 hours before the event, you will not have your deposit returned.
