Want to work in China? China and Hong Kong Careers Fairs now open for booking

Chance for direct contact with employers in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.

Each September, the Imperial Careers Advisory Service, working in conjunction with the Careers Services at Oxford and Cambridge univeristies and the London School of Economics, runs 3 career fairs in China aimed at native speaking penultimate, final year and graduate students. You’ll get the chance to meet potential employers based in, or with a strong presence in, China face-to-face to gather information on what’s like to work for them and of any work experience or graduate opportunities they have available. Employers will also be given a copy of your CV before the fair so if you make a good impression on the day you may end up, as several Imperial students who attend last year’s fairs did, with a job offer by the end of the day!

Fairs in 2013 are held in Hong Kong on Monday 2 September, Shanghai on Wednesday 4 September and Beijing on Friday 6 September with over 25 companies at each fair. Ahead of the fair, you’ll need to make sure your CV is up to date and looking it’s best to impress potential employers. The Careers Advisory Service has a number of resources to help you do this, including an online video “Quick Guide to CV writing”, help sheets and one-to-one advice appointments. We’d also suggest doing some research on the employers attending and sectors that interest you. This will allow you to focus on specific employers to get the information you want and make a good impression to those prospective employers you speak to.
