A reminder of our Olympic Glory!
Yuki came to Ethos on Monday 8 July and offered thanks for the support of Sport Imperial throughout the London 2012 Games.
London 2012 seems quite a long time ago now, but a recent visit from Yuki Ota, a member of the Japanese Men’s Fencing Foil team who used Ethos as their training base and won Sliver Olympic Medal last August, was a welcome reminder of last year’s spectacular summer and the lasting impact of the Games.
This time last year Ethos played host to 14 Olympic teams including Team GB, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, France, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Chile, USA, Holland and Italy. We shared victorious moments with many of the athletes who used Ethos for their training, including Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, the Men’s Triathlon Gold and Bronze medal winners; Nicola Spirig, the Women’s Triathlon Gold Medallist; Anthony Joshua, the Men’s Super-Heavyweight Boxing Gold medallist; and of course The Japanese Men’s Team Foil, the Team Silver Medal winner. It’s amazing that with a total medal count for athletes who used Ethos of 11, we would have ranked 23rd in the overall medals table tying with Kenya!
Yuki came to Ethos on Monday 8 July and offered thanks for the support of Sport Imperial and spoke of his positive experience in using the Ethos facilities throughout the London 2012 Games. He kindly donated some signed memorabilia to Ethos to commemorate his success and Imperial’s contribution to it. He is now looking forward to future success and has high hopes for Tokyo’s bid for the 2020 Olympics – we wish him all the best for the future.
