Professor Daniel Hastings, formerly Dean for Undergraduate Education at MIT, will give the College's next Perspectives in Education Lecture.
Professor Daniel Hastings, formerly Dean for Undergraduate Education at MIT and the incoming Director of the Singapore MIT alliance, will give a lecture at Imperial in October. The talk entitled 'Beyond the Engineer of 2020 - What is the Future for Engineering Education?' will review some of the changes towards more design in the engineering curriculum, the increased emphasis on globalization, serious pedagogy and the creation of more flexible engineering programmes. The recent development of massive open online courses and their potential impact on engineering education will also be discussed.
The talk is part of the Perspective in Education series of lectures, which is an occasional lecture series devoted to promoting discussion about wider ideas in education. It will take place on Monday 07 October, from 1700-1800 in the Read Lecture Theatre. Further details and information on how to book a place at the talk are available on Perspectives website.
