Dr Christopher Lattimer wins prestigious Phlebology Award
Dr Christopher Lattimer from the Department of Surgery and Cancer wins the prestigious biennial 7th Bauerfeind Phlebology Award.
Dr Christopher Lattimer, from the Department of Surgery and Cancer, and his team from the Josef Pflug Vascular Unit (Dr E Kalodiki, Dr M Azzam, Dr M Kafeza and Mr Geroulakos) recently won the prestigious biennial 7th Bauerfeind Phlebology Award from the International Union of Phlebology (IUP) for:
- Outflow performance of different stockings in chronic venous insufficiency, post-thrombotic syndrome, lymphoedema and normal subjects. Lattimer CR.
Dr Lattimer received the award at the XVII World Congress of the International Union of Phebology on 8 September 2013 in Boston, Massachusetts. As well as the trophy and certificate, Dr Lattimer also received a prize of €20,000.
The aim of the prize is to acknowledge an exceptionally interesting and creative study design in the field of phlebology (all conditions related to or caused by veins that become diseased or abnormal) that has a connection to compression treatment. The prize money is given to provide finance towards on-going projects.
More than 300 internationally recognised faculty, representatives from all over the world and delegates from more than 25 international phlebological societies participated in the XVII World Congress of the International Union of Phlebology, providing an international perspective on venous disease.
