Student satisfaction levels are higher when universities are managed better at the departmental level, according to an Imperial academic.

Professor Carol Propper, from Imperial College Business School, has published a new study in the Economic Journal that explores how better management practices improve the performance of university departments, and in turn improve student performance.

Maxine Myers caught up with Professor Propper to find out more about her latest research, which is out today. In the audio interview below, the pair discuss why management matters and which universities fare better at managing their people, along with some of the surprises coming out of the study.
