DoC Professor awarded prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair.

by Royston Ingram

Congratulations to Professor Stephen Muggleton who has been awarded a second prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering five-year Research Chair.

The Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair is a full-time professorial appointment, in engineering-related subjects. The Chair holder is expected to develop and lead a prestigious research group, the members of which will be encouraged to publish the results of their research as widely as possible to gain international recognition both for themselves and for the group in which they are based.

The holders of the chair are encouraged to seek additional funds from Research Councils, industry and other sources as appropriate in order to fund their research. A measure of success is whether the group is in a position to continue after the initial five-year period.

Stephen's Chair is part funded by Syngenta and will focus on Applications of Automated Theory-Formation using Meta-Interpretive Machine Learning. Well done Stephen.
