The Mayor of London Low Carbon Entrepreneur 2015 rewards student business ideas which help reduce London's carbon emissions - could your idea win?

Now in its third year, the Mayor of London Low Carbon Entrepreneur 2015 is an opportunity for students to get their ideas for a low carbon future to market and to gain valuable work experience. 

Applicants to the prize will be considered for one of up to 6 paid interships with Siemens, at their sustainable cities initiative in London, The Crystal, as well as a £20,000 idea development fund.

The prize is free to enter and there is no limit to the number of ideas any individual or group can submit. A shortlist will be selected by experts before the winner is picked by a high profile judging panel in a Dragon’s Den style event in May 2015. One of last year’s winner has already used their share of the development fund to launch Solarbox – solar-powered phone charging stations within unused London telephone boxes.

Throughout the year, the Mayor of London's office will be offering training opportunities to potential applicants and any student who signs up to be an ambassador in the scheme can also compete for two weeks' work experience at London City Hall.

The prize is looking for ideas from current students or recent graduates aged 18 or over in the following categories:

• Product design
• Transport in the city
• Materials/reuse and recycling/circular economies
• Behaviour change/networking
• Energy efficiency/capture/generation
• Food/food waste
• Water management
• Other
