The 2014 Science Communication Conference, 1-2 May at the University of Surrey, brings together science communicators for networking and discussion.
What Is It?
The Science Communication Conference is an annual event, bringing together a diverse range of science communicators to meet each other, get new skills and discuss the biggest issues in public engagement.
The Conference contains a mixture of sessions including inspiring plenary sessions and a selection of parallel sessions from which you can choose most relevant for you.
Some examples of the sessions being offered this year are:
- The role of design in science communication – looking at how design can be used to enhance the way that we look at public engagement
- Take it on the chin – how to give and receive feedback – explore how others deal with feedback and what techniques we can borrow
- How did science get funny? – A panel of science comedy practitioners will look at where the trend of science comedy has come from and where it might be going

Asides from the networking opportunities within the field of science communication, the Conference also offers the chance to:

- Pre-Conference mixer and social events to meet other delegates
How Do I Attend?
You can book a place to attend the conference online. The Conference will be held at the University of Surrey, Guildford on 1 and 2 May 2014. There is an entrance fee, although bursaries are being offered to those who would not otherwise be able to attend the conference.
