Congratulations to Adam Scholefield and the England men's water polo team who have claimed gold at the Commonwealth Water Polo Championships.
The England team won all their group matches in the Commonweath Water Polo Championship before beating Malta 16-9 (5-1, 5-2, 4-3, 2-3) in the final on 12th April.
Adam has worked hard to combine academic success with his international sporting activities. He represented Team GB in the 2012 Olympics in London, and has now gained his PhD and is a research assistant in our department's Communications and Signal Processing group.
Adam was one of the first undergraduate students to benefit from a scholarship through the Student Opportunities Fund in 2003. “My scholarship has made a huge difference to me, as I wouldn’t have been able to afford to study at Imperial without taking up a part-time job. It has undoubtedly contributed to both my academic and sporting achievements.”
