China & Hong Kong Careers Fairs 2015

by Richard Marshall

Your big opportunity to meet employers in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai this August!

Imperial College Careers Service is once again collaborating with LSE and Cambridge to provide careers fairs in China and Hong Kong.  Last year’s Fairs in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai proved very successful with several Imperial attendees obtaining placements and job offers as a result of the events. This year a number of students from Harvard , MIT and Columbia universities have also been invited to attend the fairs.

The China & Hong Kong Fairs are aimed at any native speaking student but particularly penultimate year, final year and graduate students (non-native speakers are, however, able to attend the Hong Kong Fair). Attending and making a good impression could get you a job offer - it did for a number of last year's attendees!

Reasons You Should Attend

1. It is the best way to meet many recruiters from multinationals, financial, governmental and manufacturing organisations who have a strong presence in Hong Kong and China

2.At Shanghai and Beijing there will also be representatives from Chinese national and state owned companies

3. You will greatly improve your chances of success by meeting employers face to face and obtaining information about recruitment and selection processes

4. Numbers of students attending are deliberately lower than at UK fairs - allowing you more chance for useful conversations with prospective employers. We expect to have no more than 300 students at any venue

What Else Should I Do?

  • Before the fair, make sure you CV is up-to-date. The Careers Service's Application and Selection pages have information available to help with this, include helpsheets and a 'Quick Guide to CV Writing' video.
  • Research the employers attending the fair, or the sectors that interest you. By focusing in this way, you can target which employers to speak with at the fair, and make a lasting impression. Find out more on the 'Doing your Research' section of the Careers Service website.
