Presentations kick off to share Imperial's Staff Survey findings

by John-Paul Jones

Presentations to share findings from the 2014 Staff Survey kick off this week with a meeting at the South Kensington Campus on Wednesday morning.

The presentations will be hosted by the Provost, Professor James Stirling, and aim to give staff an opportunity to hear more about survey findings, together with time for questions and discussion.

I firmly believe that we should strive for excellence in all that we do, including our working environment.

– Professor James Stirling

Provost

This year’s survey was completed by 4,589 people, 60% of all staff. Among the results  64% of staff agreed that their contributions to the College were recognised and valued, 89% were proud to work at the College and 88% said that they felt motivated to perform well in their work. Results also showed that 20% of staff are not confident about expressing their views and opinions without fear of negative consequences.

In a message to staff the Provost said: “Our work at Imperial constantly seeks to push the boundaries: to refine and improve, whether in the academic or professional sphere. I firmly believe that we should strive for excellence in all that we do, including our working environment. Our outstanding staff deserve no less.  Now that we have the Survey results we will act on them.”

The presentations are open to all staff and are taking place as follows:

  • South Kensington Campus: Wednesday 11 June, 10.00 - Clore Lecture theatre, Huxley building
  • Hammersmith Campus: Thursday 12 June, 10.00, Lecture Theatre 2, Wolfson Education Centre
  • St Mary’s Campus: Friday 20 June, 09.30, Anthony de Rothschild Lecture Theatre, Medical School Building, 2nd Floor
  • Silwood Park Campus: Monday 14 July (time and location TBC).

The next step for Imperial will be to develop action plans, at College and departmental levels, to address points of concern identified through the survey results.
