Imperial is to intensify its education and research partnerships with the University of British Colombia (UBC), one of Canada's leading universities.
Imperial and UBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 26 June in South Kensington aiming to increase student and academic visits, cultural interchange and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed by Imperial’s Provost Professor James Stirling and UBC’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Principal Professor Deborah Buszard.
Professor Stirling said: “Both Imperial and UBC have much in common in our pursuit of educational and research excellence. Greater collaboration will create new opportunities for students and researchers, broaden horizons and help extend our reach in North America. We look forward to taking our thriving relationship with UBC to the next level.”
Imperial and UBC already work together on a range of education and research activity, including:
- undergraduate summer research exchanges in Maths, Chemistry and Physics;
- year abroad opportunities for undergraduates in Earth Sciences and Engineering;
- medical research into bacterial pathogenicity;
- collaborative research in business and finance.
