An interview with the Ethos Award 2014 winner at Sport Imperial's annual ARCS award and celebration evening, which was held on 19 June.
When did you start working at Ethos, and how do you enjoy it?
I started working at Ethos 5 March 5, 2012. I enjoy the variety of things always going on at the Ethos center. There is something here for everyone and I really like organising the events that take place.
What does your job entail?
As Active Lifestyles Manager, my job entitles looking after anything with lifestyles, and making the facilities and services available. I manage the Active Lifestyles Team who provide various services to students and staff at Imperial, including group exercise classes, Pre-Season Training programme, Weight Management Programme, events such as Energia Fitness Fun Day and a lot more!
What is your favourite thing to do at Ethos?
From a student point of view the best part about Ethos is the free gym and swim, along with the long opening times of the gym. If I were a student I would utilise the cheap classes and access to our facilities. From a staff point of view, the best part about working at Ethos is the staff only times, and the variety of classes that Ethos has to offer.
Why is working at Ethos important to you?
Representing a great university is important to me, and at Imperial, everyone strives for a really high level of greatness. I like being apart of something that works really hard to be great. All my staff is qualified and strives to make Ethos the best it can be. I like being apart of something excellent.
How do you feel about winning the ARCS Ethos Award?
I was really surprised I won. I nominated one of my coworkers to win, and thought he was going to get it. I’ve been working really hard at Ethos and have made some changes, which have been worthwhile. I have a very supportive and hardworking team, so it is really nice to win this award and be recognised as a team.
