Record-breaking year for Imperial donations
Donations to Imperial topped £54m last year, with more people giving than ever before.
Over five thousand people donated to Imperial in the last academic year, raising a record-breaking £54 million for life-changing research and scholarships.
It’s been an absolute privilege for us to make contact with so many of Imperial’s alumni and friends over the last year, and to tell them about how their support can advance the College’s life-changing research and scholarships.

Deputy Director of Development
A new milestone in the history of charitable giving at Imperial was set last week, as end-of-year figures showed that a total of 5,400 people had donated more than £54 million during the year. That is the greatest number of people ever to give in a single year, and the most ever raised for the College. The funds donated will further the work of leading researchers and will provide prestigious scholarships for the brightest students.
Sir Keith O’Nions, President and Rector, said: “Never before have so many people given so much to the College in a single year. Their generous support for research and scholarships at Imperial is a reminder that our donors share our belief in the value of a science-based education and in the power of scientific innovation to find solutions to the health, environmental and economic challenges facing humanity.”
Life-changing gifts
Imperial’s record-breaking year reflects a broader trend that has seen the number of donors giving to British universities steadily increase over the last five years. The number of people donating to Imperial has more than doubled since 2009, rising from around two thousand to over five thousand in 2014. The total amount donated to the College in 2009 was £6.6 million.
Angela Bowen, Deputy Director of Development, said: “It’s been an absolute privilege for us to make contact with so many of Imperial’s alumni and friends over the last year, and to tell them about how their support can advance the College’s life-changing research and scholarships. Our donor community is the foundation for our fundraising mission, and we are profoundly grateful for their commitment and support.”
