On 17 November Imperial College NHS Trust launched a week long campaign to raising staff awareness around the prudent use of antimicrobials.

Each day of the week will focus on a different aspect to antimicrobial prescribing covering everything from the practical and safety aspects, to policy awareness, to the importance of appropriate sampling and how we ensurewe get the right antibiotic, at the right dose for the right indication for our patients.

The week is based around the government backed campaign that is European Antibiotic Awareness Day. This is officially on 18 November but because antibiotics is so topical at the moment, the Trust have made it into a week-long affair!

Over the week, there will be some practical tips to help healtcare workers prescribe and monitor antibiotics appropriately. Everyone has a role to ensure that antibiotics are used responsibly.

Public Health England is also asking everyone, healthcare professionals and members of the public, to make an antibiotic pledge and become an antibiotic guardian
