Careers Fairs

A Careers FairCareers Fairs run by the Careers Service provide an opportunity for you to meet and talk to a number of companies, looking to recruit graduates. Following three successful Careers Fairs held in the autumn, two further Fairs are held at the College during Spring Term:

  • Science Careers Fair – Thursday 29 January 2015
  • Internship Fair – Thursday 19 February 2015

Careers Forums

Careers Forums consist of a presentation and networking session, allowing you to find out more about careers in specialist areas from the panel of speakers at the event. We have two Careers Forums taking place on the South Kensington Campus in the Spring Term:

  • PhD Careers Forum – Thursday 22 January 2015
  • Career Women’s Forum – Thursday 5 February 2015

‘Focus On Environment’ Week: 26-30 January 2015

A plantThe Careers Service will be hosting an environment careers-themed week, containing a combination of events including drop-ins and Skype appointments with graduate recruiters, sector-specific lunchtime careers talks, and Forums with a panel of up to 6 speakers from a variety of organisations within the sector.

Lunchtime Careers Talks

These are 50 minute talks from employers and organisations about specific occupations or key career skills. The talks are an ideal opportunity to get up to date information, ask questions and often talk to recent joiners about their experiences.  A full schedule of the talks is available online – during the Spring Term there will be sixteen talks, focusing on a range of different topics including:

Careers Service Workshops & Seminars

One of the Careers Service's seminarsThe Careers Service will be running lunchtime workshops and afternoon seminars throughout each week during Spring Term.  If you’re starting to hear back from employers and being asked to come to assessment centre or interview, we are running Assessment Centre Seminars, as well as practical workshop sessions on;

  • Group Activities
  • Presentation Skills
  • In-tray/E-tray Exercises

A whole host of seminars and workshops will also be running on making effective applications, interview preparation, and writing CVs. Workshops and seminars will be viewable on the events section of JobsLive and you can register to attend up to 2 weeks before the event starts.  

Other Careers Events

There are a number of other events run by the Careers Service across Autumn Term and the whole academic year, such as Employer Presentations, Recruiter in Residence sessions, and Skills Workshops with graduate recruiters. You can of course also book to have an appointment with one of our Careers Consultants, or attend a Careers Service Seminar or Workshop with us.

Why not also take part in a Careers Café this term? These are small group discussions led by a member of the Careers Service, covering a particular topic or area of interest.

JobsLive is the Careers Service’s online system, allowing you to search through employment vacancies and recruiting organisations, as well as booking to attend careers consultations, talks and events. Find out more about using JobsLive.

Careers Service Website

Careers Service news website on an iPadThe Careers Service website is home to an array of useful resources and information. We’ve updated our Quick Guides, with a new multimedia guide on career choice and another for first year students and how to start thinking about careers. Our disability careers resources pages now include a series of 'Get that Job' videos. We’ve also got a new section providing information to help you research occupations and job sectors, downloadable handouts and guides on subjects such as applications, interviews, and assessment centres, and online copies of Careers Service publications, The Imperial Guide to Career Planning and Career Choice.
