The 4th UK-KOREA Workshop on Plastic Electronics took place on 18-19 July 2014, Hoam Faculty House, Seoul National University, South Korea
The 4th UK-Korea Workshop was held with an aim to establish strong UK-Korea R&D collaborations in Plastic Electronics (PE), by developing the initial interactions into substantive R&D collaborations and by strengthening the interactions among the current and new members of UK-Korea PE consortium.
In the first day of the workshop, academics from both UK (Imperial, Edinburgh, Durham, Bangor and Hull) and Korean (SNU, KAIST, POSTECH, Kookmin, Korea and Pusan) universities have delivered invited talks discussing Physics, Chemistry, Materials and Engineering aspects of PE. In particular, two presentations were delivered by PhD students from SNU and KAIST, which has encouraged/ motivated young researchers to get involved in the future UK-Korea R&D collaborations. The workshop has been well received by over 80 attendees from various universities and industrial organizations, providing an excellent opportunity to interact among them. Future R&D opportunities have been discussed and are being processed between UK and Korean organizations.
In the second day of the workshop, a VIP tour has been organized and hosted by LG Display for invited speakers and guests. Without any doubt, it provided a unique opportunity to extend interactions of UK-Korea academic groups with one of the world-leading industrial organisations in PE. Furthermore, it provided a strong validation of the importance placed on strategic UK-Korea links in the PE sector.
