Advocacy can take many forms
Advocacy and fundraising can take many forms. SCI was approached by Pomegranate, a rather unique calendar manufacturer, with an idea.
Earlier in the year SCI was approached by Pomegranate, a rather unique calendar manufacturer in Canada, inviting us to be part of their special project ‘Make the World a Better Place’. Pomegranate loves celebrating special occasions and as they are special proposes celebrating them for more than one day! Inspired by advent calendars, Pomegranate gift calendars have a door for each day leading up to a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s day, arrival of a new baby, Christmas, Chanukah) to make the days leading up to that special day almost as enjoyable as the day itself.
Calendars for this holiday season are now available to buy online with 8, 12 or 24 days of gifts (£30, £35 and £63). Simply go to pomegranategift.com. choose your calendar, fill it by selecting from their 31 gift options, add a personal message and send it to a special someone.
Of the 31 gift options, 21 are “good deed gifts” divided into 5 categories – children, animals, the environment, community and boosting success. SCI is one of the charities represented in the “community” category, which represents charities that have a big impact on the communities they work in. Pomegranate will donate 50p to SCI every time it is chosen to be included in a gift calendar!
The community "good deeds" gifts comprise of the choice of three dwellings. All good deed gifts are found behind a window flat packed with a gift card explaining the good deed and providing information about the charity.
