Dr Luke Moore details the collaborative research of CIPM and the Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology, which features in the CBIT 2014 Annual Report
Dr Luke Moore outlines the cross Faculty collaboration between the Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology (CBIT) and the Centre for Infection Prevention and Management (CIPM) in the CBIT's 2014 Annual Report.
This collaboration has sought to develop two biomedical engineering solutions for antimicrobial resistance. The first of these solutions is to utilise the CBIT's lab-on-chip technology, which could allow more targeted treatments to be used much faster due to rapid identification of the bacterial cause of infection.
The second solution developed by these two teams seeks to introduce CBIT's artificial intelligence expertise into antimicrobial prescribing. The use of a learning software on mobile devices seeks to aid doctors in prudent antimcrobial usage that can be personalised to each patient.
Such a collaboration is essential to this cutting-edge research and Luke Moore discusses the continued hopes for this partnership into 2015.
