Congratulations to Ishan Abeysekera, who is the IStructE MSc Research Grant scheme winner of 2014.

Ishan studied the behaviour of tall timber buildings when subjected to strong wind loads as part of his MSc Dissertation in Structural Engineering.

Ishan’s work has been supported by one of four grants awarded by the Institution of Structural Engineers across the country and his final submission was selected for the prize of £500 as the top submission by the IStructE Research Panel.

Ishan was supervised by Dr Christian Málaga-Chuquitaype, a Lecturer in our Structures section.
