Alstom renews support for Energy Futures Lab

by Neasan O'Neill

Energy Futures Lab and Alstom have renewed their agreement, strengthening ties between the two and providing new opportunities for collaboration.

Energy Futures Lab and Alstom have signed a sponsorship agreement for the next twelve months. The deal means that the two will work closely together connecting researchers working at Imperial College London with real world case studies.

“Without a doubt energy research at Imperial is world class, but what takes it to another level are agreements like this,” says Professor Tim Green, Director of Energy Futures Lab “partnering with organisations such as Alstom allows our fundamental research to be applied to the real world.”

The relationship with Alstom is not a new one; Energy Futures Lab and other parts of Imperial College has worked together with Alstom for a number of years. The value for both partners has been immense. “Our connection with Imperial through Energy Futures Lab provides access to world class researchers and will form the backbone of collaborative research where we can bid for external funding to increase the scope of our engagement and increase financial leverage,” explains Greg Kelsall, head of the Alternative Energy Concepts Group at Alstom “we have been able to consult with academics and have built some great collaborations and projects.”

The latest agreement is for 2015 and provides Alstom with intimate access to the energy community at Imperial. Alstom will recieve market insights, and a technology forecast, from world leaders in energy research, alongside the added benefit of active participation in Energy Futures Lab activities, including lectures and symposia.

Energy Futures Lab is always open to collaborations with industrial partners of all sizes. The institute aims to help industry and academics to develop bespoke collaborations, which foster exciting and productive relationships.
