On Thursday 19 February art and science combined to create the light-themed Imperial Fringe: Lit Up.
The free public event, which was part of Imperial’s annual ArtsFest showcase, featured exciting research, artistic collaborations and hands-on activities led by Imperial researchers and student societies.

Held during the UN International Year of Light, the event focussed on the science of light and light-based technologies.
The Fringe also featured a screening of Oscar-nominated film The Theory of Everything, introduced by Professor Jerome Gauntlett - Head of Theoretical Physics, who was a consultant for the film.
Dave Kelly, who attended with his family from Norfolk, said: “I’ve been enlightened! It was great to have this hands-on experience and to have art alongside science to bring out our creative side”.
