Staff, students and alumni celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Msc Management programme at the National Gallery

Staff, students and alumni gathered at the National Gallery last week to mark the 10th anniversary of the Business School's Msc Management programme.

The MSc Management is a one-year conversion programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills to become recognised leaders in the professional, corporate and entrepreneurial fields. The programme maintains a leading position in both the world and in the UK, where it is currently ranked second after London Business School.

Diane Morgan, Associate Dean of Programmes began proceedings by welcoming guests to the event and thanking the programme’s staff, students and supporters from the past ten years. She spoke of how this was an exciting time for the Business School and as “as we continue building relationships with other business schools globally”, stressing the importance of world leading research and touching on plans for Imperial West and future student exchanges.

She then handed over to Imperial alumnus Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Lotus who was the special guest speaker for the evening.  He began with a famous quote from Lotus founder Colin Chapman, “If you’re not on the grid when the green flag drops, you’re not in the race”. This was followed by a presentation on the changing fortunes of the company since its formation in 1952. Gales talked about how he transformed the company, which was facing difficulties in May 2014 but in March 2015 reported its highest sales performance for six years.

Gales talked about how he has driven up revenues, reduced costs and improved processes across all parts of the business in addition to creating a product plan which has returned Lotus to its core brand values.

The Msc in Management is a top globally ranked programme that continues to grow in influence from the number of successful graduates in the global marketplace and the high calibre of students it attracts each year.

After the presentation and questions from the audience, Dr Paolo Taticchi, Principal Teaching Fellow, presented a number of awards to exceptional alumni from the Msc Management programme over the past ten years.  Taticchi then presented awards to Dr Marco Mongiello and Dr Sarah Wisley, with praise for their hard work in “shaping and managing the Management programme over the past ten years.”

After the speeches, guests were free to network and enjoy champagne and canapés in the uplifting setting of the National Gallery’s permanent collections.

Diane Morgan, Associate Dean of Programmes said: “It was wonderful to see so many students, staff and alumni from the past 10 years coming together to celebrate this important milestone anniversary event. The Msc in Management is a top globally ranked programme that continues to grow in influence from the number of successful graduates in the global marketplace and the high calibre of students it attracts each year. The programme is highly regarded by top employers and entrepreneurs in building leadership skills with the best talent worldwide.”
