DoC Academic honoured by the World Economic Forum

Dr Bjoern Schuller has been selected as one of the 2015 "40 extraordinary scientists under the age of 40" by the World Economic Forum.

Dr Bjoern Schuller of the Machine Learning group has been honoured as Young Scientist by the World Economic Forum and selected as one of up to 40 extraordinary scientists under the age of 40 to participate alongside business and political leaders in the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China also known as the "Summer Davos".

These scientists are "selected from all regions of the world based on expertise and thought leadership and from a wide range of disciplines to bring value to the Meeting by contributing their scientific perspective".

 This year's ninth global meeting on innovation, science and technology is run under the theme "Charting a New Course for Growth". It shall gather 1,500 industry leaders, chief executives of top-ranked multinationals, heads of state/government and ministers alongside leaders from media, academia, and the civil society from over 90 countries.

The aim is to explore the influence of new business models, industries, and technologies within the context of sustainable and inclusive growth, and advance innovation, productivity, and trust.

The role of the Young Scientists is to contribute to the insights and knowledge. Other communities of the forum include "Technology Pioneers, Social Entrepreneurs, Young Global Leaders and Global Shapers".

The 2015 Annual Meeting of the New Champions will be held in Dalian, People's Republic of China 9-11 September.
