CGCA and Old Centralians' Trust
We are delighted to announce the winners of the City & Guilds College Association & Old Centralians' Trust, Student Activity Awards. They are:
Fiona Walport (Third Year UG) John Sowden Award (commemorating an engineering alumni) and Edrea Pan (Third Year UG).
Fiona has been a very active member of the CivSoc committee this year. She was the Tour Manager, organising the annual international tour to Bucharest which included arranging site visits, cultural activities, flights and hoodies. She has now been elected next year's CivSoc Chairman. Fiona has also participated in Outreach activities outside Imperial and is particularly keen to encourage women in to engineering. She has coedited a Women's edition of Livic to help motivate and support other CivSoc members to take part in Outreach.
Edrea was part of the El Salvador Project team who spent last Summer constructing seismic resistant houses for local communities. This project inspired him to start a new initiative focusing on rural education development in Borneo, with an inaugural project taking place this summer 2015. Edrea was a volunteer at the London Climate Forum and the International Development Conference run by the Student Hub. He is also an active sportsman, particularly in athletics, having represented the College in numerous competitions such as LCAS and BUCs.
Our hearty congratulations go to both students.
